Irrational Italy

Irrational Italy

Once the pandemic is over, we will not return to our rational selves, because we actually never were […] I believe that the reason lurking behind the widespread infiltration of irrationality is the rather low cultural level in Italy: 4 people our 10 who cannot solve a problem turn to occultists, and 8 out of 10 do not understand newspaper articles. Tullio De Mauro often referred to this data to explain that if we do not systemically and radically face the issue of adult education, it will be impossible to develop a school capable of reducing inequality and educational poverty.

In hist last article published on the Italian version of the HuffPost, FMD Scientific Director Alfonso Molina reflects on the Italian irrationality pictured by the most recent Censis Report [55th Report on the Social Situation of Italy]. Moreover, Prof. Molina points out the strong preoccupation that intellectuals and scholars like Carlo Bernardini e Tullio De Mauro had, in the past, for the low cultural level of Italians.
